Some Common Torlon Properties

Torlon also called as polyamide imide (PAI) is a plastic that is melt processable and has exceptional chemical and physical properties. Its performance is well when it is under severe stress situations at temperature high as 500? F continuously. Torlon or polyamide imide is an amorphous material and belongs to a group of super polymers. It has a glass transition temperature of that is Tg of 537? F. Torlon is an ideal polymer for harsh service environments due to its excellent resistance to creep, chemicals and wear together with many organics and strong acids. Torlon exhibit superior structural and electrical properties at very high temperature. Its linear thermal expansion coefficient is quite low. It has outstanding radiation resistance and dimensional stability. Other key torlon properties include:

• Outstanding resistance against wear
• High stiffness and strength
• Minimal rate of expansion
• Survive harsh chemical, stress and thermal conditions.

Torlon

There are two common torlon. One is torlon 4203 which has the longest elongation of torlon grades. It also has outstanding compressive strength. It is best choice for the wear applications including abrasive wear and impact loading. Other is torlon 4301 which is basically designed for use for friction and wear parts.
